Mariner of the Seas Dining: Included Food & Specialty Meals
Use Mariner of the Seas’ Main Dining Room and casual included food as your base, then reserve Izumi hibachi or Chef’s Table early when that particular meal is a highlight.
Choose Jamie’s for Italian food and sharing, Chops for a steakhouse dinner, and Playmakers for an available game rather than buying a package before deciding where you want to eat.
Short version
Keep Main Dining Room, Windjammer, Café Promenade and Dog House as the included base. Reserve hibachi or Chef’s Table first when that format matters, choose Jamie’s or Chops by cuisine, and compare actual sailing prices with a package.
Start with the included meals
Main Dining Room, Windjammer, Café Promenade, and Dog House give you enough variety to enjoy Mariner without paying for several extra meals. Choose table service when you want a paced dinner, the buffet when people want different foods, and the smaller counters when the day has already moved past a usual mealtime.
The Main Dining Room spans Decks 3 through 5 aft, while Windjammer is aft on Deck 11. Café Promenade is on Deck 5’s indoor street, and Dog House sits on Deck 11 beside the main pool area.
Food at an included venue can still have a separate premium-item or drink charge. Use the ordinary menu for the included meal, then add branded coffee, alcohol, or a special dish only when you want that purchase.
The Mariner venue list shows the permanent restaurant choices. For a relaxed first evening, try the Main Dining Room before deciding how many paid dinners would improve your trip.

Keep good Main Dining Room nights in the plan
The Main Dining Room works well when your group enjoys a longer meal with a server and everyone eating together. Traditional dining gives you an assigned seating, while My Time Dining offers more flexibility with reservations still useful for the time you want.
Read the full sailing’s menus in the app before filling every evening with a specialty booking. Keep the nights with the dishes your group likes, then place a paid meal on a night you are happy to replace.
Build an included dinner around the offered soup or salad, a fish, meat, pasta, or vegetable main, and one dessert you actually want. That gives a couple a complete table-service evening before spending anything on a restaurant cover.
For an important dietary restriction, contact Royal before sailing and speak with the dining team after boarding. Consistent table service can make the recurring discussion easier, but each dish still needs confirmation with the team preparing it.
Use Windjammer for different appetites and tired evenings
Windjammer is the included buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner during its posted service. Walk the stations once before making a plate, especially when the first familiar burger or carving counter distracts you from salads, regional dishes, and other hot options.
Breakfast can include eggs, fruit, yogurt, and familiar hot dishes, while later meals bring changing global and comfort-food selections. Choose the items that look fresh and suit your appetite rather than treat the variety as a requirement to try everything.
The buffet is particularly useful after a long excursion or when children are too tired for a full table-service dinner. Check the closing time before deciding to eat late, since individual stations can stop serving before the room empties.
If breakfast must fit an early shore departure, leave a buffer for the elevator and queue. An earlier meal can be more helpful than choosing the shortest-looking route and arriving at the same time as everyone else.

Café Promenade and Dog House handle the smaller meals
Café Promenade is the easy indoor stop for included pastries, sandwiches, and changing hot or cold bites. Learn its location early so a late show or shore return does not force an unwanted full meal.
Take a complimentary pastry or sandwich when that is all you want. Specialty coffee is a separate purchase unless your actual package covers it, so food from the case does not oblige you to buy a drink.
Dog House is the useful included pool-day counter for hot dogs, sausages, toppings, and sides. A German-style brat, a familiar dog, or an offered sausage can be enough lunch when nobody wants another trip around Windjammer.
Use Dog House as a lunch or afternoon bite while the counter is serving, with Windjammer as the fuller meal nearby. For a hungry child after a show, Café Promenade is the more useful indoor stop to keep in mind.
Reserve the limited format you really want
Izumi Hibachi & Sushi on Deck 4 gives you two distinct meals: sushi and Japanese dishes, or a shared cooking-table experience. Reserve the hibachi seating early when watching the chef is the point, and make sure the booking names the format you want.
Chicken karaage and a preferred roll suit a sushi meal, while a cooking-table combination can include chicken, scallops, or shrimp with fried rice. Sushi and hibachi buy different formats, so compare the quoted cover, allowance, and supplement for the specific one your group wants.
Chef’s Table is the other reservation to make early when a small hosted dinner with wine pairings appeals. It is a multicourse event for a limited group, so choose it for the full experience rather than as a quick replacement for the dining room.
Discuss dietary needs, wine substitutions, age rules, duration, and cancellation terms before booking that fixed format. A suitable meal time is part of the purchase, especially on an evening when you also want a production.
Choose Chops for a familiar steakhouse dinner
Chops Grille on Deck 11 is the steakhouse choice: try mushroom soup or shrimp cocktail, a filet, and mashed potatoes or creamed spinach. It is a stronger purchase for someone who wants that whole dinner than for someone who only wants a more expensive steak label.
Read the menu before assuming seafood towers, lobster, or premium cuts are covered by the ordinary restaurant charge. A tempting menu item can have a supplement even when the meal itself is prepaid.
The Chops lunch menu includes filet, grilled salmon, a steak burger, and a shorter starter selection. Compare that meal with the dinner quote when you want the steakhouse without giving up a show evening.
Chops has ordinary restaurant seating, so it need not be your first reservation ahead of a hibachi table or Chef’s Table. Book by the cuisine and available time after securing the limited experience you would be disappointed to miss.

Jamie’s suits a group that wants Italian food and sharing
Jamie’s Italian is also on Deck 11 near Windjammer. Choose it when pasta, shared starters, and a less formal dinner suit the whole group better than a tasting event or grill performance.
For a sharing dinner, start with an offered plank or burrata, then let one diner take truffle tagliatelle and another prawn linguine. Rich pasta works better as the reason for booking Jamie’s than as another heavy course added simply because the meal is prepaid.
Choose Jamie’s for pasta and shared starters, Chops for a steakhouse evening, and Izumi for sushi or a cooking-table performance. The Mariner food lineup makes those choices easier to distinguish before committing several nights to a package.
On a shorter cruise, one well-chosen Jamie’s or Chops dinner may add enough variety. Keep other evenings available for the included menus and the entertainment you want.
Playmakers is a sports-bar purchase
Playmakers is on the Deck 5 Royal Promenade, with paid food and drinks alongside game screens and arcade entertainment. Choose it when the offered game and a casual meal sound more appealing than dressing for a longer dinner.
Burgers, wings, nachos, and the Touchdown Sundae are useful examples of its food style. Check the current menu and any package food allowance, while keeping drink coverage and arcade spending separate from that allowance.
Ask which game will actually be available before making it the reason to gather there. A wall of screens cannot promise a particular league or broadcast on your sailing.

Treat Johnny Rockets and Starbucks as casual purchases
Johnny Rockets is on Deck 12 near the aft youth area and serves a paid diner-style meal of burgers, fries, and shakes. Use it when that exact meal appeals rather than assume it replaces an included lunch without adding spending.
Starbucks is on Deck 4 near the Centrum. Its licensed outlet has its own purchases and package rules, so ask about coverage before using a Royal drink package as the reason to order.
A burger or branded coffee can be a pleasant occasional choice without becoming the day’s main reservation. Keep Café Promenade and Dog House in mind when the real goal is simply an easy included bite.
Compare the actual package with the meals you want
Adult covers and package prices vary by sailing and promotion, so there is no reliable single adult price for every Mariner departure. Compare the complete quote for two at the restaurant and meal period you want, including gratuity and any premium-item supplement.
Children 5 and younger can dine from the children’s menu without a cover under Royal’s published family dining policy, while ages 6–12 qualify for reduced child pricing. Use the child offer attached to that reservation, especially for hibachi or another fixed experience, since package additions and individual dinners can have different prices.
Unlimited Dining includes participating specialty dinners and offered specialty lunches on sea days, with the current purchase terms controlling credits, supplements, and exclusions. Only count a meal as package value when you would actually choose to eat it.
On a short sailing, start with one paid dinner or a sea-day Chops lunch. For a package comparison, add the complete individual prices of the meals you already want for every diner, then count only included meals and allowances that fit around ports and the ice show.
Room service buys delivery and privacy
The room service policy lists a $7.95 charge per order plus 18% gratuity, making the standard delivery charge $9.38 after rounding. Two separate charged orders would total $18.76 before separately priced items, so combine the cabin’s meal when practical.
A delivered burger or Philly cheesesteak can make sense when both adults are exhausted and want privacy. For a snack while you are already near the Royal Promenade, included café food keeps the delivery charge in your budget.
Continental breakfast is complimentary; a hot breakfast or later charged order follows the posted menu. Choose delivery when privacy or rest earns the fee, with Café Promenade the useful included snack when you are already on the indoor public decks.

Fit the meal around the rest of Mariner
Use our Mariner activities to give the ice show or theater a comfortable evening. The Mariner deck guide helps pair a meal with nearby lounges, while Mariner practical tips cover the first-day checks.
Keep the longest shore day paired with a flexible meal, and reserve the paid dinner whose cuisine or format you want. The right dining plan should make the week easier to enjoy rather than fill every evening simply because another restaurant is available.
How this guide was researched
Venues and example dishes follow Royal Caribbean’s ship listings and sample menus, with charges and eligibility drawn from the linked dining policies. Sample dishes show the style of each meal; the sailing menu and booking quote settle the exact order and price.
