Quantum of the Seas Tips, Secrets & Things to Know: Mistakes to Avoid Before Sailing
On Quantum of the Seas, the best little shortcuts are knowing when to reserve Two70, where to find an easier lunch, and which elevator bank gets you to the right end.
Sort those out early, then choose a few activities you really want instead of making every sea day depend on a packed schedule.
Short version
Reserve the Two70 show when offered, learn Café @ Two70 and Dog House for easier included lunches, and choose the right elevator bank before changing floors. Check North Star for scenery and price, plan without iFLY until its return is confirmed, and verify suite benefits before buying extras.

Reserve the Two70 show before filling every evening
If Starwater appears for your sailing and its visual performance appeals, follow the reservation instructions as soon as booking is offered. Two70 is a different room from the main theater, so don’t assume the same seating and booking routine applies to both.
Choose a seat with a view of the performers and moving screens together. Being close to one part of the performance isn’t necessarily the best way to enjoy the whole room.
For another Royal Theater production, read the current description and choose by your own taste. A named show in an older guide isn’t a reason to promise your group that exact performance.
Leave time after dinner to get to the correct entrance. Our Quantum activities guide helps decide which evenings deserve advance planning and which can stay open.
Use Two70 when it isn’t a theater
By day, Two70’s aft windows give you a comfortable indoor view of the wake and passing scenery. Find it on Deck 5 early so it becomes somewhere you’ll actually return, not only the place printed beside a show time.
It’s especially useful when you want scenery without cold wind or rain. Take a book, try a different seat when the first choice is occupied, and settle in while there’s a gap in the hosted program.
The nearby café makes this a natural lunch stop. Check the counter’s current hours before heading aft hungry, and keep the room’s event schedule in mind if you want a longer quiet break.
For a group, agree on a particular deck and landmark. “Meet at Two70” is better than “meet aft,” but the actual room and nearby upper level still deserve clear instructions.
Find Café @ Two70 before another buffet lunch
Café @ Two70 gives you included sandwiches, salads, soups, and other light choices during its posted meal periods. Use it when you’re already enjoying the aft lounge instead of heading all the way back to Windjammer automatically.
Around SeaPlex time, the Dog House is another easy included option. A sausage nearby may suit a hungry teenager better than moving the whole family several decks for a meal nobody prefers.
Café Promenade and Sorrento’s are useful when a show or port return calls for something casual. Check what’s open, then choose the meal that fits instead of arranging the day around an assumed counter schedule.
Our Quantum dining guide compares those included stops with the paid restaurants. Knowing several good alternatives makes the buffet a choice rather than a habit.

Check the SeaPlex activity, not just its opening hours
SeaPlex uses the same floor for different scheduled sessions. Look at the actual activity before heading up in the shoes or clothing you’ve chosen for another one.
If bumper cars matter, try a suitable session earlier in the cruise and look at the line before committing. Walking away from a long wait can leave enough time for something else you enjoy.
For younger children, check whether they qualify to ride with a guardian or independently. The difference matters more than simply knowing the attraction is offered.
With older children or teens, choose an exact meeting point and agree on when to check in. The activity floor, upper spaces, arcade, and Dog House aren’t one small location where everyone will automatically spot each other.
Keep an arcade spending limit separate from the included sports or ride session. A cruise-card charge is easier to manage before the game starts than after the final account arrives.
Plan without iFLY until Royal confirms operating sessions
The current Quantum page flags RipCord by iFLY as out of service. Don’t build the booking around it unless Royal confirms its return for your sailing.
Keep children’s expectations clear before showing them indoor-skydiving videos. A day of SeaPlex, pools, or climbing is much easier to enjoy without an avoidable promise hanging over it.
If the simulator returns, check its reservation process, participation rules, and price before organizing the day around a session. Until then, choose the operating activities that appeal and let them carry the plan.
Pick North Star for the view as well as the price
North Star is an observation capsule, so interesting scenery is the best reason to organize your time around it. Compare a port, coastline, or scenic stretch with the offered session and charge.
Royal’s North Star requirements list 42 inches as the minimum height, 48 inches to ride alone, and a maximum weight of 300 pounds. Read the actual booking instructions for any additional requirements before choosing a family session.
Complimentary and paid offerings can differ. Don’t treat the price or timing from another person’s sailing as the arrangement you’re guaranteed to receive.
If the only available session doesn’t offer a view you want at a price you like, keep your money. Two70, the Solarium, and public decks still let you enjoy the surrounding scenery.
Try an earlier suitable opportunity if this is a priority. Weather and operations can change an outdoor attraction’s schedule, and an earlier attempt leaves more flexibility.

Learn the forward and aft banks before going upstairs
The forward end draws you toward the theater, Solarium, and spa or fitness facilities. The aft end serves Two70 lower down and SeaPlex and FlowRider higher up.
Use the Quantum deck plan to choose the bank for the destination before changing floors. Getting the height right still leaves a long walk when you’re at the wrong end.
From Royal Esplanade on Deck 4, go up to Deck 5 for the route toward Café @ Two70 and the lounge at the stern. Learn that connection once instead of repeatedly trying to reach the aft lounge from the wrong public level.
Our Quantum deck guide explains the main routes. For anyone who depends on elevators, leave time for dinner-to-show trips rather than needing every connection to be quick.
Use the pool that fits today’s weather
Deck 14 gives families both a covered pool and an open-air option. Walk through them on the first day so moving between them later feels easy.
When the weather is pleasant, enjoy the outdoor area if it suits you. When wind or rain makes it less appealing, choose the covered space rather than waiting for your original plan to become enjoyable again.
The adult Solarium is forward and has an 18-and-older rule. Families with younger teens should choose another shared base when staying together matters.
If the sheltered areas are busy, try a different time or use SeaPlex or Two70 for a while. You don’t need to spend the afternoon circling the same few loungers.

Pack shoes for activities even on a beach-focused trip
Keep appropriate closed-toe activity shoes available for the sessions you want to try. Beach sandals won’t automatically satisfy skating, climbing, or other posted requirements.
For FlowRider, check whether the session is bodyboarding or stand-up surfing before joining. The minimum height and instruction requirements differ, and paid lessons aren’t the same purchase as an open session.
Choose a swimsuit that stays secure during active water use. Family members who’d rather watch can still enjoy the visit without feeling they need to participate.
Try outdoor activities when they are operating and the conditions are comfortable. An available early session can be more useful than a perfectly planned final-day visit that the weather interrupts.
Coastal Kitchen access follows the suite, not a dining package
If you’re booking a suite, check the exact class before counting Coastal Kitchen into every day’s meals. A normal Sea-tier Junior Suite has dinner access subject to availability and reservations, while Sky-tier accommodation has broader all-day access.
The Royal Suite Class rules explain those distinctions. A specialty-dining package doesn’t turn an ordinary cabin into an eligible suite.
For a suite stay, use the included dining benefit before automatically buying several specialty dinners. For a standard cabin, choose the paid restaurants for meals you actually want rather than expecting access to every venue on a map.
Internet benefits also depend on the exact suite class. Read the full booked category instead of assuming every room with “Sky” or “Junior Suite” in the name receives the same package.
Choose restaurants before choosing a package
Make a short list of the paid meals your group would enjoy, then compare those meals with the package’s checkout total and terms. Wonderland, Jamie’s, Chops, and Izumi offer different reasons to spend extra.
A specialty lunch can leave the evening free for a production or live music. Check whether that meal period is offered before reserving several long dinners by habit.
If Hot Pot interests you, confirm it appears for the actual sailing before making it a priority. A venue listed in a general ship description doesn’t settle its menu, price, or operating format for your departure.
Keep specialty coffee, drinks, and separately priced menu supplements in the budget. For room service, budget the published $7.95 service fee per order plus applicable gratuity, confirm the total on the ordering screen, and consider grouping the family’s food into one delivery.

Let the sea-day count choose your pace
For a short sailing, choose two or three highlights and use a convenient included meal around them. You won’t enjoy trying to squeeze every attraction and show into a brief getaway.
For a longer crossing, find several places you like to return to and check laundry-service options early. A comfortable routine can matter more than having something completely new planned every day.
Use the dates and port instructions on the actual itinerary, especially when a crossing or water-shuttle call changes the usual routine. Check supplies and shore-day timing before committing to a tight independent plan.
On the first day, complete the required safety steps, connect to the app, and learn the routes to your main priorities. Once those basics are familiar, you’ll have much more freedom to choose what sounds good that morning.
How this guide was researched
Recommendations were checked against Royal Caribbean’s Quantum ship information and current deck diagrams, plus its North Star, suite-class, internet, and room-service policies. The selected sailing’s app and booking terms determine show reservations, operating sessions, and checkout charges.
