Norwegian Getaway Restaurant Guide: Included Food and Specialty Dining

Let Norwegian Getaway’s included restaurants cover most meals, then reserve specialty dining for the cuisine or cooking show you really want.

Learn the Deck 6 and Deck 8 dinner routes early, and keep O’Sheehan’s in mind when a late port return or show changes your plans.

Short version

Use Taste, Savor, The Manhattan Room, Garden Café, O’Sheehan’s, Shanghai’s, and American Diner for included meals. Reserve Teppanyaki for a cooking performance or a Deck 8 specialty room for its cuisine; The Haven Restaurant is private, and package allowances do not cover every order.

Start with Getaway’s exact current dining lineup

Freestyle dining removes the traditional fixed dinner rotation, but it does not eliminate the value of planning. Check the nightly main-room menu and the entertainment schedule together, then choose the restaurant that fits the evening instead of eating at the same hour from habit.

The included dining is a complete meal plan, not a consolation prize before specialty dining. Main dining provides the paced dinner, the buffet supplies speed and variety, and the round-the-clock pub prevents a delayed excursion or late show from becoming an expensive emergency.

Included food keeps pool and activity days flexible

  • Taste: main dining on Deck 6, serving breakfast, lunch, or dinner as scheduled; expect rotating multi-course menus.
  • Savor: main dining on Deck 6, serving dinner and other meals as scheduled; expect the same broad Freestyle main-room program in a separate room.
  • The Manhattan Room: main dining on Deck 7, serving meals as scheduled in the large aft main dining room.
  • Garden Café: buffet on Deck 15, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner; expect omelets, carving food, salads, pasta, international dishes, and desserts.
  • O’Sheehan’s: 24-hour pub on Deck 7, serving day and night; expect Reuben sandwiches, fish and chips, burgers, wings, and pub food.
  • American Diner: pool grill on Deck 16, serving daytime hours; expect complimentary diner comfort food.
  • Shanghai’s Noodle Bar: Asian counter on Deck 7, serving dinner and selected periods; expect fresh noodles, wok-fried dishes, and soups.
  • The Haven Restaurant: private dining on Deck 16, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner for eligible guests; expect signature dishes and a quieter full-service setting.

Choose your main dining room by mood and timing

The smaller main rooms feel more conversational, while the largest room supplies the grander dinner atmosphere. Because menus overlap, choose by room, wait, and the night’s schedule rather than pretend three names mean three unrelated cuisines.

For dinner, start with the soup, seafood starter, or more distinctive appetizer, then choose fish, braised meat, or the strongest regional dish before defaulting to plain chicken. Included dining is exactly where trying a new plate carries less financial pressure than using a specialty credit on the safest order.

Buffet, pub, and quick-service strategy

At the buffet, walk every active station before filling a plate and look for made-to-order breakfast, carving food, Indian or other international dishes, pasta, salads, and the freshest dessert. The first burger or pizza you see should not define the entire buffet.

The pub is the best schedule repair because it operates around the clock and serves substantial comfort food rather than only pastries. Use quick service for pool or port returns, then save the main room for an evening when sitting down adds something.

The Haven Restaurant is a cabin benefit

The Haven Restaurant is complimentary for guests staying in The Haven, but that does not make it a public included restaurant. A specialty package cannot create access for a standard cabin, and a Haven guest should use the restaurant early before paying again for multiple specialty meals.

That distinction is the cleanest way to handle access-controlled dining. The private restaurant belongs to the cabin product, while the cover-charge venues below can be booked by other guests subject to availability and payment or package terms.

The Waterfront is Getaway’s specialty-dining advantage

Getaway puts Cagney’s, La Cucina, Ocean Blue, Moderno, The Raw Bar, Wasabi, The Bake Shop, and Dolce Gelato on Deck 8 around 678 Ocean Place and The Waterfront. Teppanyaki and Le Bistro are on Deck 6, so group a pre-dinner drink and an outdoor restaurant walk on Deck 8 instead of crossing the ship repeatedly.

  • Moderno Churrascaria, Deck 8, cover charge
  • La Cucina, Deck 8, cover charge

Choose a specialty meal by cuisine

Choose the meal you genuinely want, then let that format decide the reservation. Seafood, a shared grill performance, and a Brazilian meat service create different evenings, so there is no need to book every restaurant to get variety.

Ocean Blue

Ocean Blue is the refined seafood reservation, with fish, shellfish, and wine pairings in a Deck 8 setting. Book it when seafood is the reason for the meal and order accordingly, rather than choose the least marine entrée and then wonder why the concept felt unconvincing.

Moderno Churrascaria

Moderno starts with a substantial salad bar of cheeses, cured meats, olives, and salads before servers carve skewered meats at the table. Arrive hungry, choose small portions of the first cuts, and save room for the meats you care about instead of accepting every skewer as a personal obligation.

Cagney’s, Le Bistro, and La Cucina

Cagney’s is the familiar Black Angus steakhouse, Le Bistro is the French room for escargot and coq au vin, and La Cucina covers Italian classics such as osso buco, carbonara, and affogato. Pick the cuisine that changes the week rather than booking three versions of a long, rich dinner.

Teppanyaki, Wasabi, and The Raw Bar

Teppanyaki is the timed shared-grill show and therefore the booking to protect when performance matters. Wasabi supplies sushi and yakitori, while The Raw Bar is the lighter seafood stop for oysters, shellfish, crudos, and wine by the glass.

Reservation order

Reserve Teppanyaki first when the grill show matters, then Ocean Blue for a preferred seafood dinner, and then Cagney’s or Moderno according to the group’s appetite. The smaller Wasabi and Raw Bar formats can fill a lighter meal, while sweets at The Bake Shop and Dolce Gelato are purchases rather than dinner reservations.

Make reservations as soon as the booking window opens for the sailing, then recheck after boarding if a preferred time was unavailable. A sold-out precruise screen can change, but waiting until the final sea day for the smallest venue is still an unnecessary gamble.

Specialty package rules and honest price math

Check how many specialty meals are attached to your fare and what a meal permits before ordering. A package dinner does not automatically include another main course, premium selections, every beverage, or access to private Haven dining.

The current specialty program uses cover charges in the $40 to $60 range, while sweets counters can charge by item. Check the quote and menu for the restaurant you want, including any displayed service charge, premium selection, or extra order.

Total the current covers for the specialty meals you actually want, including service charges and any displayed supplements. Then compare that total with the package attached to your reservation, rather than counting dinners you might never book.

Cancel or update a specialty reservation at least two hours before the scheduled time to avoid NCL’s stated $10-per-person fee. Use the reservation details and your booking terms, and set a reminder when a port excursion could affect dinner.

Room service has separate charges

Room service has a separate convenience charge for most cabins: NCL currently lists a $4.95 breakfast fee and up to $9.95 for other orders. The room-service FAQ distinguishes Haven and Suite exemptions; check your own category and the menu before ordering.

Use the live cabin menu as the item-level authority and compare the convenience fee with walking to the 24-hour pub. Room service is valuable when it solves fatigue, privacy, or a sleeping-child problem, not because it should be mistaken for another included restaurant.

Dietary needs and families

For a serious allergy, contact NCL before sailing and meet the dining team onboard so future meals can be coordinated. The main dining room is the best recurring base because separate specialty kitchens, counters, and a crowded buffet cannot automatically promise the same preparation controls.

Families can alternate a long dinner with buffet food, pub meals, quick service, and the most interactive specialty choice. A package credit does not make a two-hour steakhouse meal enjoyable for every child, while a shared-grill show is useful only when the child actually likes the noise and performance.

An easy way to vary your dinners

Start with an included main dining room so you can judge the menu and service pace before spending a package meal. Add one Waterfront specialty dinner or Teppanyaki performance, use Shanghai’s for a casual change, and keep O’Sheehan’s available after a late show.

How this guide was researched

We checked Getaway’s current dining roster and deck images for venue locations and included versus paid meals. We also checked NCL’s reservation and room-service information; dish examples describe the cuisine to expect, while the current menu and booking quote govern individual orders and final charges.
