MSC Meraviglia Dining Guide: Restaurants, Costs, and Best Choices
MSC Meraviglia centers casual included meals on Marketplace Buffet, with seated main dining and a compact Galleria specialty district adding variety.
Learn the buffet route and try a seated included meal before reserving HOLA!, Butcher’s Cut, or Kaito for a particular cuisine or experience.
Short version: Walk the full Marketplace service area, try Waves when it opens for breakfast or lunch, and let the assigned dining room carry most evenings. HOLA! is the easy casual splurge, Butcher’s Cut suits steak lovers, and Kaito Teppanyaki deserves the first reservation when its cooking show matters.
Meraviglia has a buffet bottleneck problem, not a restaurant shortage
Meraviglia’s included meals center on Marketplace and the main dining rooms, rather than the variety of standalone casual venues found on World America. Small bar-food offerings can be useful snacks, while seated breakfast at Waves adds a welcome change when available.
Marketplace can be busy around the first food and drink stations. Walk farther into the room before choosing a line or table, and use the daily program to shift meals when the schedule allows.
Embarkation lunch is a demanding first test of any large buffet. Start with a modest plate, walk farther into the room for seating, and return to the stations with good turnover rather than letting that first crowd decide the whole week’s food plan.

Marketplace is best when you ignore the first food you see
Marketplace handles included breakfast, lunch, dinner, and later casual food during posted hours. Start with pizza, pasta, fresh mozzarella, bread, or the carving station when they appeal, then add the international dishes that look fresh and interesting.
Choose a few foods you actually want rather than collecting every tray item. A fresh slice of pizza, a portion of carved meat, and a salad can make a more satisfying lunch than a plate crowded with unrelated dishes.
At breakfast, look farther into the room before joining the first omelet queue. One station near the entrance can be busy while another farther along the same buffet has a shorter wait.
At lunch, take one lap and build the plate around food that is actively turning over. A fresh slice of pizza and pasta made in a kitchen that knows those foods well is a safer bet than collecting six lukewarm items simply because variety felt productive.
Shift the meal a little when the day permits. Port departures and onboard events change the crowd pattern, so a useful quieter window on one morning may disappear the next.
Remember Waves for a seated included meal
Waves is one of Meraviglia’s main dining rooms, but it also commonly handles included breakfast and lunch on selected days. That makes it useful for exactly the moment when Marketplace looks like a food convention and you would rather sit down than protect a table with your life.
Use the daily program to see when Waves offers breakfast or lunch. It is a welcome alternative when you have time for service and prefer a table to finding coffee, eggs, and a chair in separate trips.
Choose Waves for an unhurried meal when it opens, and Marketplace when an excursion leaves little time. The two formats serve different needs without requiring another food purchase.
The main dining room names matter less than your fare and service team
Meraviglia’s main dining program uses Waves on Deck 5 plus L’Olive Dorée and L’Olivo d’Oro on Deck 6, with closely related nightly menus rather than three separate culinary concepts. The official deck plan also places Panorama on Deck 6 and the Galleria specialties on Deck 7.
On cruises departing from a U.S. homeport, MSC publishes a US$5 charge for a second main-dining entrée; the first entrée, appetizers, and desserts remain included. Choose another course for variety, or factor the second-main charge into the meal rather than treating every extra plate as free.
Keep the room assignment and service team that fit the booking rather than trying to collect dining-room names. Dinner timing, the rotating menu, and how the team handles your table matter more than changing the decor.
Start with a pasta, risotto, fish, or Mediterranean preparation that appeals on that evening’s menu. MSC’s included dining describes the program, but a specific prime rib, short rib, or soup remains a possibility rather than a nightly promise.
Main dining is a paced meal without one guaranteed duration. Leave a comfortable gap before entertainment and tell the service team about a real timing constraint at the start of dinner.

Aurea changes dinner flexibility more than it changes the food
Aurea provides My Choice dining flexibility and commonly uses Panorama, subject to the sailing’s assignment. That upgrade is most useful for controlling dinner timing around port returns and shows, rather than expecting a secret superior public menu.
If you are deciding whether Aurea is worth the fare premium, focus on how much flexible dinner timing matters around port days and evening plans. Panorama and My Choice flexibility address the schedule rather than creating a completely different public menu.
Yacht Club is a different dining vacation
MSC Yacht Club guests have their own private restaurant and grill, plus food service in Top Sail Lounge, so their dining problem is completely different from the public buffet bottleneck. These are cabin-category benefits, not ordinary restaurants a standard-cabin guest can reserve with a specialty package.
Yacht Club guests should enjoy the private restaurant and grill before buying several public specialty dinners. These dining facilities are a substantial part of the cabin fare, so using them gives a clearer picture of what another paid meal would add.
HOLA!, Kaito, or Butcher’s Cut can still provide enjoyable variety for Yacht Club guests. Choose the cuisine or cooking show because it appeals, with the private restaurant carrying the rest of the week.
Butcher’s Cut is my safest full specialty dinner
Butcher’s Cut is Meraviglia’s paid American steakhouse for aged beef, classic starters, seafood, and sides. The sample menu suggests crab cake or lobster bisque followed by filet or ribeye, with creamed spinach and chocolate lava cake; use the onboard menu for the available order and any premium supplement.
Book it for a steak-loving couple or a special occasion after trying the included main dining. The steakhouse earns its place when the meal itself is something you want to remember.
A fixed-price or package meal still has defined choices and premium supplements. Ask whether the cut and size you want are covered, especially for Wagyu or sharing steaks such as a tomahawk.
Reserve a dinner time that fits the evening when the booking portal allows it. A table early enough for a favorite show is more useful than a late reservation that technically fills the package but disrupts the plan.
Reserve HOLA! when a casual specialty meal appeals
HOLA! Tacos & Cantina serves casual Mexican and Latin-inspired food. Al pastor tacos, barbacoa, made-to-order guacamole, and queso fundido are a good shared starting order when shown on your sailing’s menu.
If a particular HOLA! meal time matters, reserve it as soon as the sailing’s system allows. A casual atmosphere does not mean every popular dinner slot will remain available.
Compare the quoted all-you-can-eat meal with an item-by-item order for your appetite. A few tacos and guacamole can be a sensible lighter meal; a hungry table wanting several rounds gets more from the unlimited format.
HOLA! is an approachable family choice because the food is shareable and the casual format fits an early dinner before entertainment. Choose it for the flavor change rather than making children sit through a longer meal just to justify a package.
Kaito Teppanyaki is the reservation priority if hibachi is the must-do
Kaito Teppanyaki is the shared-grill show where chefs cook fried rice, vegetables, seafood, chicken and steak in front of the table. Fixed seating and a limited number of grills make it much more capacity-constrained than HOLA or Butcher’s Cut.
Reserve teppanyaki first when the family wants the chef show, since fixed grill seating is the constraint. The representative menu ranges from chicken and sea bass to salmon, prawns, steak, and vegetarian tofu, so choose the quoted set that fits the group.
For a quieter anniversary dinner, favor a conventional table instead. Chef banter, the communal grill, and active food preparation are the reasons to choose teppanyaki.

Kaito Sushi is the flexible Japanese choice
Kaito Sushi Bar sits along the Galleria and serves rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and Japanese dishes. It suits a lighter lunch or early dinner when the food matters more than a shared-grill performance.
Compare the live a la carte order with the fixed-price offer before adding a small sushi meal to a multi-meal package. Paying for the individual pieces you want can leave the evening and food budget more flexible.
Ocean Cay is for seafood people, not automatically the first specialty booking
Ocean Cay is Meraviglia’s paid seafood restaurant with Mediterranean preparations. Representative current ship-page dishes include rock-salt sea bass, king crab, lobster, oysters and a tiger-prawn platter, giving the table a concrete reason to choose it when seafood is the point.
Choose Ocean Cay when the fish or shellfish selection is the reason for the meal. Read the onboard menu before reserving; a seafood-focused table may rank it above steak or tacos, while another group may prefer those flavors.
For two paid meals, my default is HOLA! and Butcher’s Cut, with teppanyaki replacing one when the cooking show matters. Put Ocean Cay first when seafood is the group’s clear priority.
Spend dessert money on something distinctive at Jean-Philippe
Jean-Philippe Chocolat & Café sells chocolates, macarons, specialty coffee and custom chocolate creations, while the nearby crêpe-and-gelato counter sells sweet and savory crêpes and frozen treats. These are paid counters, not additional included restaurants.
Choose a chocolate, macaron, crepe, or gelato order that feels different from the included desserts. A small specialty treat can be enough without turning every coffee break into another food purchase.
The Sports Bar publishes complimentary hot dogs, while Champagne Bar can serve caviar, oysters and chilled seafood. Atmosphere South sells freshly grilled food, Atmosphere Ice Cream offers six flavors and fruit, and Polar Bar is another frozen-treat and snack stop; verify current hours and any charge in the app.
Price the meal you want before the dining package
MSC’s dining packages offer fixed-price meals with a broad choice of up to three dishes per restaurant; selected premium items carry supplements. Public sample menus do not provide a permanent Meraviglia adult price, so use the currency and per-person amount quoted for your sailing rather than applying another ship’s rate.
Choose the restaurants first, then compare their exact food totals with the package after supplements. MSC’s published terms include gratuities in prepaid packages, but drinks remain separate; packages are personal, unused meals are nonrefundable, and a multi-meal package allows only one Butcher’s Cut visit.
Children under three dine free under the published terms, while ages three through twelve use a fixed-price Kids Menu. MSC does not publish one current numeric child price in those terms, so include the child quote and any adult-menu upgrade in the booking total.
Reserve HOLA and teppanyaki early because those are the venues where timing or capacity can bite hardest. A prepaid dining package does not cause another hibachi table to rise from beneath the Galleria floor.
Room service depends on your fare experience, so check before ordering
Room-service terms depend on the booked experience. Under MSC’s published policy, continental breakfast runs from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. except disembarkation day; Fantastica, Aurea and Yacht Club include delivery, while Bella pays $3.50 on dollar-priced sailings or €3.50 on euro-priced sailings.
Fantastica and Aurea include 24-hour delivery, but food outside the included continental breakfast is individually priced. Consolidating an order can be convenient; the cabin menu should still show what the meal itself costs.

A practical seven-night Meraviglia dining plan
- Embarkation lunch: Marketplace, but walk the room once and start with fresh pizza, pasta, mozzarella or carving food instead of the first grill tray.
- Night 1: Try the assigned main dining room to judge the included food, service, and pacing before buying more meals.
- First sea-day breakfast: Waves if it is open, specifically to avoid the Marketplace breakfast peak.
- First specialty: HOLA! for a casual meal that is easier to fit around entertainment.
- Second specialty: Butcher’s Cut for a steak-loving couple or special occasion.
- Experience meal: Kaito Teppanyaki only if the grill show is genuinely part of the appeal.
- Light paid lunch: Kaito Sushi rather than adding another long dinner.
- Seafood night: Ocean Cay only if the current menu specifically wins me over.
- Late casual food: Marketplace or room service based on the current hours and delivery charge.
- Final dinner: Return to the included room or specialty restaurant that actually performed best, not whichever name remains unchecked.
Families, allergies and dietary needs
Marketplace’s familiar choices help families, but its busiest periods can be harder on small children. Shift breakfast when possible and choose HOLA! or teppanyaki only when the children enjoy that food and dining format.
For serious allergies, notify MSC before sailing and repeat the requirements to the main-dining or Yacht Club team. Ask buffet staff directly about ingredients and cross-contact, because a label or shared station cannot establish safety for a particular allergy.
Meraviglia dining mistakes to avoid
- Copying Seashore or Seascape’s casual-food advice. Meraviglia does not have Red Cactus, The Chicken Man or the same separate complimentary counters.
- Calling every named main restaurant a different dining concept. Waves, L’Olive Dorée and L’Olivo d’Oro share the standard program, while Panorama is especially tied to Aurea flexibility.
- Counting Yacht Club dining as ordinary included food. The private restaurant and grill are Yacht Club benefits.
- Waiting until day two or three to reserve HOLA. On a full sailing, the popular dinner times can disappear much faster than the casual taco-shop atmosphere suggests.
- Buying a package without checking its fixed-menu choices and premium supplements. A broad selection does not mean every size, additional course, or premium ingredient is included.
- Judging Marketplace only from burgers and generic American food. Pizza, pasta, mozzarella and fresh-turnover stations are more reliable strengths.
- Scheduling dinner too close to a show. Main dining is paced service, so leave a comfortable buffer before entertainment.
- Letting one bad meal define the whole ship. Change stations, tell the serving team when something is wrong, and use the first dinner to decide where the rest of the food budget belongs.
Continue planning with the deck guide, best cabins, cruise tips, things to do, pros and cons, cabins to avoid.
How this guide was researched: Restaurant locations, dish ideas, and paid-meal rules were checked against MSC’s ship information, sample menus, and service terms. The menu and quote for your sailing decide what is available and the final charge.
My MSC Meraviglia dining verdict
Meraviglia gives ordinary guests one large buffet plus seated main dining rather than many separate included counters. Vary the week with Marketplace, Waves when it opens for another meal, and the assigned dinner room, then buy a specialty meal for a cuisine you actually want.
For specialty dining, HOLA is my broadest recommendation, Butcher’s Cut is the safest full splurge, and teppanyaki gets reservation priority when the show matters. That gives you enough paid variety to improve the week without turning every evening into a restaurant appointment.
