MSC Meraviglia Deck-by-Deck Guide: Galleria, Pools and Cabin Decks

MSC Meraviglia connects Galleria on Decks 6 and 7 with middle cabin decks and different pool settings on 15 and 16.

For a standard cabin, start in the middle residential decks and choose the elevator bank that serves the pool, dining room, and evening venues you will repeat.

Short version: Decks 11 and 12 balance pool and Galleria trips for standard cabins, the aft lifts serve Marketplace and Horizon, and the forward bank is useful for Bamboo and the theater; favor cabins overhead when sleep matters more than Deck 14 convenience.

Meraviglia deck choices that make the routes easier

  • Deck 11 or 12 is my favorite all-around location. You sit between the Galleria and pool decks without putting either directly against your cabin.
  • Deck 8 is more location-sensitive than it looks. Compare each room with the Galleria, restaurants, casino, and Carousel Lounge area below.
  • Deck 14 is not an automatic upgrade. Pool-deck structure, chair noise, and the large overhang can make a lower balcony better.
  • Deck 15 gives you two completely different pool experiences. Atmosphere is the open-air central pool, while Bamboo Pool has a retractable roof for changing weather.
  • Deck 16 aft: Horizon Pool offers wake views and a different setting from central Atmosphere, without guaranteeing quiet or adult-only use.

Galleria Meraviglia: learn the indoor landmark first

Galleria Meraviglia stretches roughly 315 feet through the center of the ship and is covered by the huge LED ceiling that shows changing digital displays. More importantly for navigation, it concentrates restaurants, bars, shopping, parties, and general evening wandering across decks 6 and 7.

Galleria remains useful when the open decks become uncomfortable. Its events also mean that a cabin only a floor or two away should not be assumed quiet solely from the short route.

For sleep, favor extra cabin levels between the room and Galleria entertainment. The plan establishes the public space below, while reports vary by numbered room and sailing.

Deck 4: medical care and the announced shore route

Deck 4 contains the medical center and tender access, rather than a full passenger leisure circuit. Use the day’s announced gangway or tender instructions, because the operating route varies with the port.

Deck 5: low cabins make sense for motion, not pool convenience

Deck 5 mixes forward cabins with reception, Infinity Bar and Waves. Choose the exact Deck 6 ceiling before trading an upper room for this lower position.

The tradeoff is obvious once you look at the pool locations. Atmosphere and Bamboo are on Deck 15, while Horizon Pool is aft on Deck 16, so a family living in swimsuits will spend a lot of time traveling vertically.

Deck 5 can suit port-heavy trips and a lower position for motion sensitivity. The specific public space above still matters, since lower does not automatically mean quieter.

Deck 6: the Galleria starts doing most of the social heavy lifting

Deck 6 begins with Broadway Theatre forward, then Galleria Meraviglia through the center, with shops, HOLA! Tacos & Cantina, and Jean-Philippe Chocolat & Café along the public circuit. L’Olivo d’Oro, L’Olive Dorée, and Panorama Restaurant extend the dining area farther aft.

Use Deck 6 for orientation: establish Galleria relative to your lift bank and the lower public routes become easier to repeat.

An early sleeper may prefer several cabin decks between the bedroom and Galleria parties. A slightly longer evening route can be the useful trade for less immediate public-space exposure.

Deck 7: restaurants, bars, and Carousel Lounge make aft matter

Deck 7 has Aurea Spa forward, specialty dining and bars along the upper Galleria, then Casino Imperiale and Carousel Lounge toward the stern. The official Meraviglia pocket map places the spa here, well below the gym on Deck 16.

For aft rooms on lower cabin decks, consider the particular performance space below. That adjacency suggests a tradeoff worth weighing, but does not establish a measured sound level.

For evenings, Deck 7 is excellent because dinner, drinks, and entertainment can be grouped without constant elevators. For sleeping, I prefer moving up until the Galleria feels close rather than directly beneath you.

Deck 8: choose the room for the outlook and public neighbor

Deck 8 begins the main cabin section near Galleria. Choose a suitable individual room rather than accept or reject the whole floor for its convenience.

Other cabins can sit over public spaces, bars, restaurants, or close enough to the open Galleria that late music becomes noticeable. Aft rooms also deserve extra scrutiny because Carousel Lounge sits below that end of the ship.

Junior Ocean View and obstructed-view Junior Ocean View are distinct Deck 8 choices. Buy the outlook attached to the numbered room rather than assume every window has the same restriction.

Deck 8 can suit night owls who value the entertainment route. For light sleepers, a middle-deck alternative offers more distance from the lower venues.

Deck 9: another workable compromise, but not my sweet spot yet

Deck 9 is mostly residential and gains another layer of separation from the lower entertainment decks. That adds a cabin layer beneath most rooms while keeping the Galleria close enough for stairs if you do not mind a few flights.

At comparable fares, Deck 10 or 11 adds useful cabin levels between the room and lower public areas. The specific view and neighboring spaces still decide between two options.

For an ocean-view or balcony cabin, exact lifeboat and exterior-structure sightlines still matter. Meraviglia is one ship where “higher view category” can mean less obstruction but more exposure to pool structures later on, so there is no perfect upward ladder.

Deck 10: a useful residential compromise

These are my favorite normal cabin decks because they sit almost halfway between the Galleria and the big pool zone. You get residential hallways, cabins above and below most rooms, and a reasonable elevator ride in either direction.

Deck 11: my first comparison for a standard room

Deck 11 is appealing because the plan puts cabins above and below most rooms. That is a stronger reason to choose it than the claim that any entire deck is quiet.

A short route to a useful lift bank is a real convenience. Choose for the doorway and corridor, without assuming lift proximity alone proves noise or silence.

Deck 12: a little closer to the pools

Deck 12 moves closer to the pools while retaining cabin levels nearby. Between equivalent Deck 11 and 12 rooms, the total price, lift route and balcony shape are useful tie-breakers.

Decks 9 through 12 contain interiors and balconies, with selected forward ocean-view, Aurea suite, and Yacht Club Duplex Suite accommodation. Deck 13 continues the interior and balcony mix and selected Aurea suites, while the forward Yacht Club cabins on 14 introduce a different access and benefit arrangement.

Deck 13: still residential, now clearly closer to the pool world

Deck 13 remains a solid cabin deck and can make sense for families who want shorter trips to Deck 15. You are still buffered from the main outdoor activity rather than sleeping directly underneath it.

Deck 13 is a clearer sleep-related comparison with Deck 14 when it adds cabins between the room and upper public space. Pay for a useful route or outlook rather than height alone.

Motion also becomes slightly more noticeable as you go higher, especially far forward. That will not bother most people, but anyone prone to seasickness should let position beat prestige.

Deck 14: buy convenience only when the ceiling suits you

Deck 14 sits directly below the main pool deck, and this is where a higher cabin can become worse than a cheaper one below. The overhead area matters because parts of Deck 15 are public pool and buffet areas while the forward section contains Yacht Club accommodation.

Furniture and cleaning are possible disturbances where outdoor public space sits directly above. The particular overhang also changes shade and the open-sky feeling, so choose each balcony individually.

Deck 14 has different spaces overhead along its length. A suitable Deck 12 balcony is usually the more useful purchase for light sleepers when the only reason to pay extra is moving higher.

Deck 15: Atmosphere Pool and Bamboo Pool solve different problems

Atmosphere Pool is the big open-air main pool and the place to go if you want music, games, dancing, and the full central-pool energy. It is also one of the busiest and loudest daytime areas on the ship.

Bamboo Pool sits forward on the same deck and is a completely different experience. MSC’s Meraviglia ship information highlights its sliding roof, making it the obvious bad-weather option when wind, rain, or cool temperatures turn Atmosphere into an exercise in optimism.

Marketplace keeps Deck 15 busy during meal periods even without swimming. A room a few levels lower provides separation from that activity while retaining an easy elevator trip.

Pool-focused families may value Deck 13 or a suitable Deck 14 room. Adults who plan few pool visits have less reason to pay for immediate proximity.

Deck 16: Horizon Pool is my favorite outdoor alternative

Horizon on Deck 16 aft combines a wake view with tiered lounging. Try its setting as a change from central Atmosphere when the main pool scene becomes too busy for your plans.

Deck 16 also includes the upper Bamboo Pool area, the gym, Sportplex, and paid games and simulators, while Top Sail Lounge and concierge occupy the private forward Yacht Club section. Aurea Spa is on Deck 7, so gym and spa visits require different routes.

Learn both the aft wake-view setting and forward Bamboo area before settling into one pool routine. Each offers a different use of the same upper-deck day.

Deck 18: kids, Sky Lounge, and aft nightlife

Meraviglia skips passenger Deck 17, then resumes on Deck 18 with Sky Lounge, the children’s facilities, and the aft Horizon Amphitheatre and Attic Club area. The Yacht Club restaurant and suites occupy the private forward section.

Families using the kids clubs repeatedly have a legitimate reason to value a higher cabin. Adults without children gain much less from being close to this part of the ship unless they have Aurea or Yacht Club access.

Deck 19: Polar Aquapark, Top 19, and the Yacht Club pool

Deck 19 holds Polar, Himalayan Bridge and reserved outdoor areas. Top 19 and the forward Yacht Club facilities require the relevant booked access; they are not ordinary public sun decks.

Yacht Club is the big exception to my middle-deck preference because the suite is only part of what you are buying. Private Yacht Club facilities occupy the forward upper enclave, including accommodation on Decks 14, 15, 16, and 18 and its pool on 19; Yacht Club Duplex Suites also appear forward across Decks 9 through 12, farther from those shared facilities.

Whirlpool and heated loungers inside MSC Aurea Spa on MSC Meraviglia

Forward, midship, or aft on MSC Meraviglia

Forward favors the theater, Deck 7 spa, Bamboo Pool, and Yacht Club; the gym is on Deck 16 rather than beside the spa. Aft favors Carousel Lounge, Horizon Pool, wake views, and some of the livelier evening and outdoor spaces.

For most travelers, a useful lift bank matters as much as a mathematically central room. Choose the corridor you will repeat rather than the midship label alone.

For motion-sensitive travelers, a lower room nearer the middle deserves priority over a high-forward view. No location guarantees a motion-free sailing.

Meraviglia deck choices by traveler

  • Best overall standard cabin: Deck 11 or 12 near a convenient elevator bank.
  • Best for light sleepers: Deck 10, 11, or 12 with cabins above and below and some distance from the Galleria opening.
  • Best for pool-focused families: Deck 13, or a carefully researched Deck 14 room if one-flight pool access matters more than possible noise.
  • Best for motion sensitivity: a lower-midship room on Deck 5 or another lower residential level.
  • Best adult pool alternative: stay mid-level and use Horizon Pool aft rather than paying to sleep under Atmosphere Pool.
  • Best premium experience: Yacht Club high forward if you plan to use the private restaurant, lounge, pool, grill, and sun deck.

For Marketplace breakfast, use the main lifts in the aft half. The forward bank is a useful anchor for Bamboo on 15, the spa on 7 and Broadway Theatre below on 5 and 6.

After dining toward the stern on Deck 6, return to the public Galleria route and head forward for Broadway Theatre. For Carousel Lounge, stay toward the stern and go to 7 instead; dining rooms and the theater area are destinations, not through-passages.

For children’s activities on Deck 18 or Polar Aquapark on 19, use the aft public section and locate the club or waterpark entrance before dropping anyone off. Those aft recreation areas are separate from the forward Yacht Club, and a lift icon is not proof of an unrestricted route through its private doors.

How this guide was researched: Locations and cabin relationships were checked against MSC’s exact-ship deck plan and venue information. The daily program supplies opening hours and the shore route in use.

Learn Meraviglia before the first sea day

Start in Galleria Meraviglia and walk the full promenade across decks 6 and 7, then find Carousel Lounge aft so you understand where that separate entertainment zone sits. After that, ride to Deck 15 and deliberately visit both Atmosphere and Bamboo pools.

Finish by walking aft on Deck 16 to Horizon Pool. Once you know “Galleria below, Atmosphere and Bamboo on 15, Horizon aft on 16,” the ship stops feeling like a stack of UNESCO-site deck names and starts feeling very straightforward.

Our cabin planning guide helps compare room layouts. Choose the view, nearby spaces and route to your regular venues before paying for a higher deck.

Before boarding, use our cruise tips collection to organize the practical questions that affect your daily routine. Check the onboard schedule for venue hours and the announced gangway each day.

For step-free travel, confirm the exact cabin and the routes you need with MSC through its special-needs form. A room near an elevator does not by itself establish that the room, balcony, or every upper outdoor area meets your needs.
