Where to Eat on Carnival Sunshine: Complete Dining Guide

On Carnival Sunshine, try the Captain’s Pasta Bar and BlueIguana breakfast before deciding which paid dinner earns a night.

Keep a main-room dinner as your baseline, then choose JiJi for Asian sharing plates, Cucina for Italian favorites, or the steakhouse for a celebration.

Short version

Try BlueIguana breakfast, the included Captain’s Pasta Bar lunch, and Sunrise or Sunset for dinner. JiJi offers a paid Asian dinner, Cucina adds Italian dinner, the steakhouse suits a celebration, and Bonsai is an à la carte choice.

JiJi lunch depends on the sailing

JiJi is a paid Asian dinner restaurant on Deck 9, while an Asian or Mongolian Wok daytime setup has appeared in past Sunshine lunch programs. Check HUB for your sailing’s daytime service and its inclusion before building lunch around it.

If that cooked-to-order lunch is offered, choose the protein, vegetables, and sauce you enjoy. Start cautiously with spice when you are unsure of the heat level, and use the included pasta or pool-deck counters when the daytime setup isn’t running.

A made-to-order bowl takes cooking time, so leave enough room in the day if you try it. If a long line would make you miss another plan, keep the scheduled port or activity and choose another lunch.

Try the included pasta lunch at Cucina

Cucina del Capitano becomes the complimentary Captain’s Pasta Bar at lunch on Deck 9, letting you choose pasta, sauce and mix-ins before they are cooked. At dinner the same room becomes a paid Italian restaurant with a broader menu and table service.

Use this when you want an actual bowl of pasta rather than a buffet plate containing pasta because it happened to be there. A half portion is also a smart move if you want to pair lunch with something else instead of spending the afternoon recovering horizontally.

BlueIguana breakfast is the other repeat meal to try

BlueIguana Cantina is complimentary for breakfast and lunch, with breakfast burritos and huevos rancheros before the counter shifts to tacos and burritos. Fresh tortillas, customizable fillings and the salsa bar are a reason to choose it instead of beginning every morning with another lap around Lido.

Breakfast is a useful time because the line is usually easier and a burrito is simple to carry to a quieter table. Build it exactly how you want, find coffee, and move on with the day instead of turning eggs into an expedition.

Lunch is still useful, especially when the group wants different things and someone else is already headed to Guy’s. Sunshine’s pool-deck setup makes it easy to split the food order without splitting the family.

Guy’s is the easy pool-day lunch

Guy’s Burger Joint is included and serves the familiar Carnival lineup of griddled burgers, fries, sauces and toppings. Start with the Ringer when you want the onion-ring situation or keep it simple and choose your own toppings at the toppings bar.

The important strategy is timing, because Sunshine’s compact pool area funnels plenty of people toward the same lunch counters. Eat a little before or after the main noon wave and the burger becomes much more pleasant than balancing fries while conducting a chair census.

Lido Marketplace is useful, so look beyond the first tray

Lido Marketplace handles breakfast, lunch and dinner with salads, carving items, hot dishes, Indian vegetarian choices, desserts and the usual Carnival variety. Walk the full area before building a plate because the first station rarely deserves the entire appetite just for being closest.

At breakfast, use the omelet station when the line is reasonable, then compare the active stations farther along before choosing a table. Keep the Havana Bar seating area in mind when the daily layout makes it a useful quieter alternative.

Dinner is when Lido becomes a flexible alternative if nobody wants the main dining room. Use it intentionally for a fast evening, not as punishment for failing to make a restaurant reservation.

Keep pizza in mind between meal times

Pizzeria del Capitano is included and stays useful from morning into late evening, which makes it one of the safest port-return and post-show options. Ask what just came out of the oven and choose the fresh pie rather than waiting for a complicated topping combination while hunger becomes a personality change.

Choose Sunrise or Sunset by dinner timing

Sunrise and Sunset are Sunshine’s included main dining rooms, serving Carnival’s rotating dinner menus plus breakfast or brunch service depending on the day. The menus overlap, so you should care much more about fixed versus Your Time Dining and the table location than trying to dine in both rooms.

Your Time Dining commonly uses Sunrise, while fixed seating can place guests in Sunrise or Sunset. Confirm the current assignment in HUB and choose dinner timing around the show schedule rather than treating 6:00 versus 8:15 as an abstract booking preference.

For the food, start with the stronger Carnival staples and whatever nightly entrée actually sounds appealing instead of ordering the safest protein by habit. Warm chocolate melting cake can handle dessert while the appetizers and main course do the experimenting.

Sea Day Brunch is worth one slow morning

Sea Day Brunch is included and gives you eggs, French toast, huevos rancheros, burgers, mac and cheese and heavier brunch plates. Do it once when you want to sit down and linger, then return to BlueIguana on the morning when the pool or port schedule matters more.

JiJi is the paid dinner to compare for Asian variety

The current reservation fee for JiJi dinner is $28.80 per adult and $13.20 for the children’s menu, ages 11 and under, including the 20% service charge. Choose across the family-style menu so the table gets actual variety.

Compare the current JiJi menu choices of braised short rib, Singapore chili shrimp, and a noodle or rice dish for a shared meal with different flavors. Rose crème brûlée is one of the current menu’s dessert choices if the group wants a different finish from the main dining room.

JiJi is the paid dinner you should prioritize because fewer Carnival ships have it than the steakhouse, and the food is much harder to duplicate in Sunshine’s included dinner program. If you only buy one specialty dinner, this is the one you should choose unless someone at the table has been dreaming about steak for six months.

Cucina dinner is easier to judge after you try the free lunch

Cucina dinner costs $28.80 per adult and $13.20 for the children’s menu, ages 11 and under, including the 20% service charge. Arancini, meatballs, pasta, and Italian mains make it a broader evening choice than the complimentary pasta lunch.

Choose Cucina dinner when the group wants Italian appetizers, mains, and a slower family-style evening. If you only want a bowl of pasta during the day, the included lunch already fills that role.

Fahrenheit 555 is the traditional splurge

Fahrenheit 555 is Sunshine’s steakhouse, with beef cuts, seafood, sides, and dessert. The current reservation total is $62.40 per adult and $18 for the children’s menu, ages 11 and under, including the 20% service charge.

If choosing between JiJi and Fahrenheit, pick JiJi for variety and Fahrenheit for a traditional date night. The better restaurant depends much more on what the table wants than on which one has the heavier silverware.

Bonsai Sushi is the flexible paid meal

Bonsai Sushi is à la carte for lunch and dinner, with rolls, sashimi, nigiri, soup, sides and hot dishes. Use it when you want a small paid lunch or early dinner without turning the meal into a two-hour event.

A roll plus sashimi or one hot plate is usually enough to make the meal feel different from Sunshine’s included food. This is where à la carte pricing becomes a feature rather than an annoyance because nobody has to order a cruise-sized feast to justify sitting down.

Chef’s Table is for a food-first evening

Chef’s Table is a hosted multicourse meal with a galley component for guests 12 and older. Carnival currently lists Sunshine’s reservation fee at $114 per person, including the 20% service charge; check your booking’s cancellation terms before reserving.

Book it only when the culinary event itself matters more than comedy or a show. Wear flat, closed-toe shoes for the galley portion.

JavaBlue is the coffee stop

JavaBlue Cafe sells specialty coffee, baked treats and snacks for an additional charge. Stop here for the drink you want, then take breakfast at an included counter when the pastry case does not tempt you.

A latte can improve a morning without turning the whole breakfast into another purchase. On a port day, pair it with BlueIguana or grab included food before heading ashore.

Room service: included continental breakfast, paid hot food

Continental room-service breakfast is included from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. except on the final morning; hot breakfast and the all-day menu cost extra. The room-service menu includes paid choices such as a Reuben, quesadilla and pan pizza, so use the ordering price when deciding whether to stay in.

Continental breakfast is especially useful on an early port morning when leaving the cabin just to find coffee and a pastry feels unnecessary. For late-night food, compare room service with pizza before paying delivery prices out of pure exhaustion.

Families, picky eaters and allergies

Sunshine works well for mixed families because BlueIguana, Guy’s, pizza, the buffet and the free pasta lunch cover very different comfort levels. The included pasta lunch lets different appetites choose their own sauce and mix-ins, so one cautious child doesn’t have to decide everyone’s meal.

For serious allergies, notify Carnival before sailing and establish the plan with the main dining team onboard. At the buffet and cooked-to-order casual stations, ask staff directly about ingredients and shared preparation areas rather than assuming customization automatically removes cross-contact risk.
