Costa Toscana Things to Do: Shows, Pools & Family Picks
Make time for a Colosseo performance, an outdoor view and the activity your group most wants, then leave the rest of your Costa Toscana day flexible.
Families can build around the water park and youth spaces, while adults can choose music, sports or a paid wellness break without crossing the ship for every event.
Short version
Protect a Colosseo event or theater show, then choose the pool setting that suits the weather and your family. Add Passeggiata Volare to an aft outdoor outing, use the youth program only when the child qualifies, and buy Food LAB or a spa visit for the experience you want.
Begin with one Colosseo event
Visit Colosseo before the evening gets busy so you can see how its three levels work. It spans Decks 6 through 8, with performance space and surrounding bars making it part of the ship’s everyday circulation.
Pick one event you want to watch properly rather than treating every passing performance as a commitment. Arrive early enough to choose a useful sightline, especially if you’re trying to keep a group together.
A comfortable chair can still have a poor angle for a particular event. Decide whether you want to see the action closely or simply enjoy the music and atmosphere, then choose the position accordingly.
For a casual drink, a less direct view may be fine. If conversation is the priority, find another lounge while the performance is underway rather than trying to talk over the main event.
Use the daily program for the actual act, language and time. An international roster gives you variety, but it doesn’t promise that every hosted segment will be in English.

Choose Poltrona Frau Arena for a theater evening
Poltrona Frau Arena occupies the forward section on Decks 6 and 7. Go there when you want the more conventional theater experience rather than watching from an open atrium level.
Make the theater performance your protected evening appointment when you want a conventional seated show. Arrive with time to find the entrance and a useful seat, since ordinary inclusion does not reserve a particular place.
Choose dinner around the show instead of hoping a long meal finishes just in time. La Maremma at the stern and the forward theater can require a substantial walk even though they’re both on Deck 6.
Our Toscana dining guide helps you combine the meal and evening venue. If you book a fixed specialty experience, keep enough time afterward to enjoy the show without rushing.
Use Piazza del Campo for the outdoor atmosphere
Piazza del Campo is the stepped stern gathering area spanning Decks 16 through 18. Try it for wake views and an outdoor event when the weather makes being outside appealing.
Choose a level before arranging to meet friends there. A three-deck staircase is too large a place for an instruction as vague as meeting at the back.
For a Piazza del Campo party, choose the event that appeals and agree on the level before the group separates. Keep an indoor music stop as the easy fallback when wind or rain makes the stern setting less inviting.
Bring a layer for an evening visit and keep a sheltered alternative in mind. You can enjoy the setting for a short stop without committing to standing outside for the whole night.

Pick the pool area that suits the weather
La Spiaggia Beach Club is the central covered-pool district on Decks 16 and 17. Start there when you want swimming without relying entirely on the exposed upper decks.
Versilia Beach is farther forward on Deck 18. Choose it for an outdoor pool visit, then check the surrounding sun and smoking-area boundaries before settling into a chair.
Try a swim shortly after opening or at a time when other guests are away at a popular event. Treat that as a timing experiment rather than a promise that any pool will be empty.
Keep towels and personal belongings with you, and follow the ship’s rules on saving chairs. A quick dip is much easier to enjoy when you aren’t also trying to hold a row of places for absent friends.
Drinks and branded snacks beside the water may add to the bill. The included pool visit doesn’t automatically cover Salty Beach food, gelato or every beverage at its neighboring bars.
Check the water park before promising a slide
Splash Aqua Park is farther aft on Deck 17, with the upper slide area on Deck 19. See the route and posted requirements early in the cruise so your family knows where to start.
Ask the team which slides a particular child can use. Height, age, clothing and operating conditions need an exact check, especially when a previous review has borrowed a limit from another ship.
For a toddler, confirm the actual water-facility hygiene rules in writing before booking around swimming. A colorful children’s area isn’t proof that a diapered child can use every pool or slide.
Take swimwear and a cover-up in your boarding bag if you hope to visit before the main luggage arrives. First check whether the area is open rather than making a travel-day promise that depends on timing.
For a family who loves slides, choose a sailing with meaningful ship time. An itinerary spent ashore every day can leave very little room for the feature that attracted the children in the first place.

Take a short walk on Passeggiata Volare
Passeggiata Volare is on Deck 18 near the aft sports district. Make it a brief outing for the elevated view, particularly when the sea and weather look inviting.
The walkway is advertised at about 213 feet high, so it’s a distinctive viewpoint. You don’t need to linger if the height or breeze makes it less comfortable than you expected.
Pair Passeggiata Volare with the farther-aft sports district for one outing. Keep a forward Versilia swim as a separate trip rather than crossing the whole outdoor deck for a brief viewpoint stop.
Follow closure signs and secure loose belongings. If conditions aren’t suitable, try a lower exterior walk or a window seat inside rather than making one exposed viewpoint decide the afternoon.
Try the sports area when the schedule appeals
The Sport Area & Glowing Arena is farther aft on Deck 18. Choose a posted game or session that interests you rather than saving space for a tournament you haven’t seen on the program.
The venue concept includes a fluorescent evening sports setting as well as daytime court use. If Glow Sports appears on your sailing’s schedule, it’s worth comparing with an ordinary poolside evening.
Ask about eligibility, signup and any specific charge before joining a session. General use of sports spaces and a separately organized activity can have different arrangements.
Weather matters on this high outdoor level. Keep a theater or Colosseo option for the same evening if the conditions make the court less appealing.
The gym is useful without buying a spa day
The gym is on Deck 16, aft of the middle elevator area. Use it for a workout when you’d enjoy keeping your routine, then decide on paid classes separately.
Access is for guests 16 and older, and minors aged 16 or older need a parent or guardian’s signed waiver. A family visit needs that check before anyone assumes a teenager can simply accompany an adult inside.
For a quick exercise break, combine the gym with another stop in the wellness district. Don’t trek from the forward cabins expecting it to be right beside them.
Check the class description before signing up if cost matters. Ordinary equipment access doesn’t make personal training or every scheduled session included.

Book Solemio because you want the experience
Solemio is also in the aft half of Deck 16, near the salon and gym. Choose a treatment or thermal visit because you’d enjoy spending time there, rather than automatically buying a package on the first afternoon.
Spa access is for guests 18 and older. Confirm the purchased visit’s duration, included facilities and cancellation terms before adding it to a family plan.
If you’re eligible for a club benefit, inspect that before paying. The club rules give qualifying Gold and Platinum members a defined port-day spa admission, with fare, length, capacity and other conditions.
A complimentary admission doesn’t include every treatment, and it isn’t automatically usable on a sea day. Choose a realistic day and confirm availability rather than counting the privilege as an unrestricted spa pass.
For an eligible Platinum treatment benefit, arrange it within the first two days as required by the current rules. A useful entitlement can still go unused when the booking deadline gets overlooked.
Register children before relying on club time
Squok Club serves children ages 3 through 11, while the teen program covers ages 12 through 17. Register early, review the actual timetable and ask what appeals to your child before arranging your own separate evening.
Drop-off eligibility includes toilet-training requirements. Confirm any medical, disability or supervision needs with Costa before travel rather than assuming the normal group program can provide individual care.
Toscana’s Squok Baby Area is free when a parent stays with the child; confirm your child’s age eligibility before visiting. Use it as a shared play outing, not a nursery reservation.
The baby area and club are farther aft on Deck 16. Check the route from your cabin and choose a specific reunion point if different family members are doing different things.
Use the family program details as a starting point, then the onboard schedule for times and capacity. The nearby Squok Restaurant is for families with children ages 3 through 6, adding a meal option for that eligible group.

Music and bars make an easy evening circuit
Try the lower public decks for a few short stops rather than preselecting one bar for every night. Colosseo, Leonardo Gran Bar, Campari and the other lounges offer different surroundings as the program changes.
Carlsberg Club & Bistro combines live rock with paid food and drinks farther aft on Deck 7. Choose it when that style of evening appeals, and check the music time if dinner conversation also matters.
Infinity Terrace and its bar at the stern give you another scenic stop. The bar’s current coverage excludes ordinary drinks packages and makes an exception for My Drinks Plus, so check the price before ordering.
The casino on Deck 7 is for guests 18 and older, with play as a separate expense. Set your own limit if you choose to visit rather than treating a short stop as another free activity.
Arcade games and VR deserve a similar spending check. Decide whether you want them, and review the charge before adding repeated sessions to the family’s day.
Food LAB is a paid activity worth considering
Choose Food LAB when cooking is the experience your group would enjoy. Its current format offers hands-on food and drink preparation, with the actual class and price confirmed in the booking.
Archipelago is another possible occasion, but its current 12-course fixed experience has distinct restrictions. It’s for ages 14 and older, doesn’t permit allergy or intolerance substitutions, and lasts about two hours.
Don’t place either beside a must-see show without allowing enough time. An activity meal should be enjoyed at its own pace rather than treated as a quick stop on a crowded evening checklist.
Let the app help you choose today’s plans
Download the Costa app before boarding and connect to the ship’s Wi-Fi to use its onboard functions. Those functions don’t require a purchased internet package.
Save the event you most want in MyAgenda, check meal hours and use the current expenses view to keep optional spending visible. The live program is more useful than a fixed timetable copied from another cruise.
Our Toscana deck guide helps with the route, while Toscana practical tips cover the first-day decisions. Keep one evening performance and one daytime priority, then use the remaining time for whatever your group is enjoying most.
How this guide was researched
Entertainment, pool, sports and youth information was compared with the deck plans and wellness eligibility. The sailing’s program supplies the performers and sessions, while posted slide limits and weather determine the available outdoor choices.
