Nieuw Amsterdam Dining: Restaurants, Menus and Costs

Use Nieuw Amsterdam’s Dining Room, Lido Market, burger counter, and pizza for most meals, then reserve the specialty dinner you most want.

Tamarind and the dedicated Morimoto by Sea restaurant are especially worth comparing if an Asian-inspired meal sounds more appealing than another steakhouse evening.

Short version

Use the included Dining Room and Deck 9 casual food for everyday meals. Current adult covers before drinks and supplements total $62.40 for Pinnacle dinner, $30 for Canaletto, and $46.80 for Tamarind with the 20% service charge; check Morimoto’s actual reservation and Have It All eligibility separately.

A useful first specialty reservation

For two adults comparing the published standard covers, Tamarind comes to $93.60 including the 20% service charge, while Pinnacle dinner comes to $124.80 before drinks and supplements. Choose the cuisine first: the $31.20 difference is useful only if both menus appeal.

Canaletto’s standard two-person cover totals $60 including that charge, making it the smaller paid change from the included Dining Room. Reserve one evening you will enjoy unhurriedly, then leave another night open until you have tried the included dinner service.

Nieuw Amsterdam : Specialty Dining

Match meals to the port day

Plan an uncomplicated breakfast before an early shore meeting, keep dinner flexible after a late return, and check Navigator for that day’s opening times. The casual choices are broad enough that you don’t need a reservation for every evening.

Sea days are better for a Dining Room lunch or longer specialty dinner, while port days favor Lido Market, Dive-In, pizza, or room service. A static schedule cannot promise which venue will open for lunch on a specific itinerary.

Lido Market is the included buffet

Lido Market is on Deck 9 and provides included breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a late-night period through staffed and self-service stations. Cooked-to-order eggs, salads, international dishes, carved meats, hot entrées, bread, fruit, and desserts are representative categories rather than a fixed menu.

Walk through Lido Market before filling a plate, then choose the station you most want. If you arrive with a hungry group, agree on where you’ll sit before everyone heads to a different counter.

Use the Dining Room for a sit-down meal

The Dining Room is aft on Decks 2 and 3, with included breakfast, lunch, and dinner when scheduled. Choose fixed seating if a regular dinner time suits you, or flexible dining when port returns and evening activities matter more than keeping the same hour.

Choose fixed or flexible dining when booking, then check the actual voyage times in Navigator. Open dining accepts walk-ins, but a reservation can make a popular dinner time easier to plan around.

Try your Club Orange menu first

Nieuw Amsterdam is a Signature-class ship, so Club Orange guests receive priority seating and an expanded breakfast and dinner menu in the main Dining Room. They do not receive a separate private Club Orange restaurant, which Holland America limits to Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam, and Rotterdam.

Neptune and Pinnacle guests receive the applicable Club Orange benefits without buying the program separately. Use the expanded menu before adding another paid dinner, and allow some flexibility because priority seating doesn’t promise an immediate table at every hour; compare the breakfast and laundry extras in suite choices before deciding which room benefits matter to your week.

Dive-In is the poolside burger counter

Dive-In is on Deck 9 by the Lido Pool and serves included hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, and similar casual food during posted daytime service. It is a quick counter, not a version of the Dining Room and not an extra specialty credit.

Order before your preferred pool lunch period and follow the pager or pickup instructions shown aboard. Dive-In is the easy meal when you want a burger and fries without changing for a longer restaurant visit.

Nieuw Amsterdam : Coastal Sailaway

New York Pizza for an outdoor lunch

New York Pizza is the aft Deck 9 counter for a casual pizza meal. Use it when your group wants to stay outside with wake views rather than returning to the main restaurant.

Order when you’re ready to eat and check Navigator for the current service hours. Choose the toppings available that day, and give yourself time for a freshly prepared order rather than arriving minutes before a shore meeting.

Room service has an included core and paid extras

Standard room service is available around the clock, with both complimentary choices and marked paid items. Use it for an early breakfast, a quiet cabin meal, or a snack that fits the day better than another restaurant visit.

Check the item prices and beverages before confirming the order. An included basic meal doesn’t make every premium dish or drink free, so use the actual cabin menu for what you want.

Crow’s Nest Café is a drink-and-pastry stop

Crow’s Nest Café is in the forward observation lounge on Deck 11 and offers pastries and beverages with wide views. It is a café counter inside a lounge, not another meal-serving restaurant.

Check the café menu before ordering specialty coffee or drinks, especially if you’re using a beverage package. Crow’s Nest itself is still a useful included viewing lounge when you don’t want to buy anything.

Pinnacle Grill is the steakhouse

Pinnacle Grill on Deck 2 suits a steakhouse dinner with seafood alternatives, sides, and dessert. Its current dinner cover is $52 per adult before the 20% service charge, making a $62.40 total; premium dishes and beverages can add more.

Try Pinnacle lunch for a smaller paid treat, or choose dinner for the full evening. Compare the current lunch menu and checkout total before reserving, including the service charge, drinks, and any marked supplements.

Nieuw Amsterdam : Casual Dining

Canaletto is the Italian dinner inside the Lido area

Canaletto occupies a designated table-service section in the Deck 9 Lido complex and opens for dinner. Its current $25 cover becomes $30 with the 20% service charge, with drinks priced separately.

Choose Canaletto when burrata, seafood pasta, or a Chianti-braised short rib sounds like the dinner you want. Its current examples also include pesto pasta and tiramisu, while marked premium dishes such as lobster can carry a separate supplement.

Tamarind is the Pan-Asian specialty restaurant

Tamarind is the aft Deck 11 specialty restaurant for Southeast Asian, Chinese, and Japanese-inspired dishes. Its current dinner cover is $39 before the 20% service charge, making $46.80 per adult before drinks and any marked additions.

Choose Tamarind when satay, a curry, or crispy duck sounds like a welcome change from the main Dining Room. Current examples include a satay sampler, Panang red curry coconut chicken, and wasabi-and-soy-crusted beef, so check the actual menu together before booking.

Morimoto by Sea is a dedicated restaurant here

Nieuw Amsterdam has the only dedicated Morimoto by Sea restaurant in the Holland America fleet, located beside Tamarind on Deck 11. It is not the fleetwide pop-up and not the newer à la carte sushi-bar format found on other named ships.

Morimoto’s restaurant examples include pork gyoza, popcorn shrimp, sushi, seafood, and the hot-stone yellowtail rice dish Buri-Bop. The current approximate $55 cover becomes roughly $66 with the 20% service charge, before drinks and marked additions.

Confirm the actual reservation total before booking.

Use the dining credit deliberately

Have It All currently supplies one eligible specialty dinner on 4-9-night cruises, two on 10-20-night cruises, and three on cruises of 21 nights or longer, with Grand Voyage exclusions. Check which restaurant your booking lets you use before placing the reservation.

Don’t assign a standard Have It All credit to Morimoto or a special event without checking the checkout. Use an eligible credit for the dinner you most want, then decide separately whether another paid meal is worth adding.

Nieuw Amsterdam : Atrium

Choose dinner on the right deck

Think of dining in three deck zones: the main Dining Room on Decks 2-3 and Pinnacle on Deck 2, casual meals on Deck 9, and Tamarind plus Morimoto on Deck 11. Crow’s Nest Café is forward on Deck 11, at the opposite end from those specialty restaurants.

Pair an aft Deck 11 dinner with the nearby bar rather than planning a rushed trip to Crow’s Nest at the other end. For a casual pool day, stay on Deck 9 and choose from Lido Market, Dive-In, or pizza.

Dietary planning needs the right base

Notify Holland America about allergies or dietary requirements before sailing and talk with the Dining Room team aboard. A consistent table-service meal plan can be easier than sorting out complex needs at a different busy buffet station each day.

Lido Market and casual counters still require questions about ingredients, utensils, sauces, and cross-contact. Vegetarian or gluten-free wording does not answer every allergy concern.

A practical seven-night plan

Start the week in the Dining Room, use Lido for flexible breakfasts and a port-day dinner, and try Dive-In or pizza for a casual lunch. Leave at least one evening open after your first few meals so you can return to the included venue you enjoyed most.

For a seven-night trip, choose Tamarind or Morimoto for a different cuisine, then add Pinnacle or Canaletto only if you want that format too. If your room includes Club Orange, try its expanded dinner menu before deciding you need several extra reservations.

Give a special dinner an unhurried evening

Choose a sea day or a light port day for the meal you’re most excited about. A paid dinner loses much of its appeal if everyone is watching the clock after a long excursion.

Check World Stage and the music-set times before reserving. The main Dining Room is aft and World Stage is forward, so leave enough time to cross the ship rather than expecting the restaurant to speed up the meal; the deck guide shows which elevator bank makes that route easier.

For Canaletto, agree that you want Italian food and shared dishes before booking a larger group. If people would rather choose completely different cuisines, the included Dining Room or Lido may be the more relaxed solution.

For Morimoto, look at the current seafood and Japanese-inspired choices as a distinct restaurant meal. Choose it because those dishes appeal, rather than because you assume it is the same sushi-bar menu advertised on another Holland America ship.

If your reservation includes a dining credit, save the confirmation and check that it appears correctly in Navigator. Ask about a missing credit early, when the dining desk still has time to sort out the booking before dinner; the booking tips help you price that allowance alongside drinks and the rest of the package.

Use breakfast to protect the port day

For an early excursion, choose a simple room-service breakfast or an efficient Lido visit and keep the meeting time ahead of the leisurely meal you wish you could have. Pack the small items you need ashore before going to breakfast.

On a free morning, try the Dining Room when it is open and take your time. That slower meal can be one of the nicest included parts of the week, especially when yesterday involved an early alarm and a long tour.

When returning hungry from port, check the currently open casual choices before committing to a late specialty reservation. A pizza or flexible Lido meal may suit the evening better, leaving the paid dinner for a day when you can enjoy it properly.

Nieuw Amsterdam : Lounge

Choose steak or seafood at Pinnacle

For a classic steakhouse dinner, compare the filet mignon with the tableside Dover sole if someone prefers fish. The current menu also includes crab cakes and a chocolate soufflé, so it can work for a table that wants steakhouse atmosphere without every person ordering beef.

Ask about marked supplements before selecting an upgraded cut or lobster dish. Choose the dinner for the menu you want, then keep the bill comfortable by separating the cover from drinks and premium additions.
